These Seven Really Don’t Matter

overwhelm_life21.  It doesn’t matter whether you live in the nicest subdivsion or whether you live in an older home.  After all, a home is a lot more than a house.

2.  It doesn’t matter whether you take your children on a far away vacation or whether you go somewhere only a couple of hours away.  The memories your children will have about this years vacation is not dependent on how much the trip costs.

3.  It doesn’t matter whether you have a an adopted child or a foster child.  You may be a single parent. What matters is that your children experience a nurturing home that is spiritually grounded.

4.  It doesn’t matter what you say to your children if you are going to contradict your words by your own behavior.  Your children see through your behavior, your intent, your manipulation, and oftentimes your motives.

5.  It doesn’t matter whether or not your children are the stars of the football team or the basketball time.  What matters is that your children become people who have high character and who display integrity even when no one is looking.

6.  It doesn’t matter if your children are the most popular at school.  What matters is that they are becoming people worthy of respect.

7.  It doesn’t matter whether you and your spouse have an income that is equal or more to that of your friends.  After all, you have spiritual riches from Christ to be enjoyed and shared.

Yesterday, I was in a store that sold a particular brand of polo shirt for half of what I paid the other day.  I purchased three shirts that day and thought I had paid a low price.  However, when I went to the competing store, I realized the price for the same shirt was even lower than what I had paid.

We have only so much time, energy, and resources.  I want to invest in what matters.  I want to invest in what will last and what really counts.  If I invest my life in what makes little difference, I may one day realize that I should have invested in things that matter.  Only then will I focus my time, energy, and resources on heavenly purposes.
