Lynn Anderson — An Encouraging Message

Many readers of this blog will are familiar in some way with Lynn Anderson. Several years ago, we watched brief video clips of an interview that I did with Lynn regarding various ministry issues. He is the author of numerous books, including an upcoming book, Talking Back to God: Speaking Your Heart to God Through the Psalms .

Lynn is wrestling with cancer at this point in his life. A few weeks ago, a video team from the Oak Hills Church went to his home and filmed these encouraging reflections. (We watched this at the Crestview Church last Sunday morning.)

Lynn has been a great encourager and mentor to me for many years. Charlotte and her family knew him long before I did. I am so grateful for his ministry.

Enjoy and be encouraged.

  1. Thanks for sharing this. I was blessed to hear Lynn preach regularly when I was at ACU and even more blessed to get to have him as a teacher in grad school.

    Powerful video!

    Grace and peace,

  2. Thanks Jim for posting this video. What an inspiration. I have a dear friend who is battling cancer and is so ready to give up her fight. She is only 40, with two children. I am going to get her to watch this…just maybe, this will help her to look at life in a different light. I have been trying to find ways to help her. Thanks again.

    1. Michele, I am glad that you found this video encouraging. I hope that this encourages your friend as well. 40 years old and two children. Wow! I’m glad that you are going to share this with her.

  3. This was such an encouraging video. Thank you for sharing it at church Sunday. Lynn’s inspiration is such an amazing testimony to all of those who have been diagnosed with cancer or any other health issue. Although she lost her battle, his courage reminds me of Mom. Lynn is truly an inspiration to all people!!!!!!!!!!

  4. Lynn and I go back to the early 70’s. I remember being with him in a motel room in Jeffersonville, Indiana. He was talking to Randy Becton (Harold of Truth) who had been told he was terminally ill with cancer. Randy was supposedly on his death bed. I listened, almost embarrassed by the intimacy of what I was hearing, to a tearful prayer from Lynn with Randy. That was almost four decades ago. Randy is still with us. My prayers are going up to the Father of Lights for Lynn’s complete recovery. But, as he has pointed out in this video, either way, it’s a win/win for Lynn. Lynn told of the time he was at an airport when he was paged. “Lynn Anderson, please go to the courtesy phone.” There was a crowd gathered hoping to see the country singer, Lynn Anderson. When Lynn got to the phone he looked at those gathered around and said, and I can almost see the twinkle in his eye, “Hey, I never promised you a rose garden.” God bless Lynn and his lovely bride.

    1. Steven, what a wonderful story about the conversation with Lynn and Randy Becton. Wow! Almost 40 years ago. What a moment to remember.

I love that story about Lynn being paged. I can just visualize this. Hope you are doing well. While we have not met, I do know your name. I recall you writing a lot of articles at one point and I was impressed with your writing.
